A participant of the First Cohort of the SNV GrEEn Incubation programme facilitated by Duapa Werkspace.

The GrEEn Incubation Programme is a business support programme targeting green start-ups, sustainable businesses and provides eco-inclusive business model development, financial management, product development, market development and linkages, business regulatory compliance, peer-to-peer networking and exchanges as well as investment readiness support to green businesses.

In December 2021, the European Union (EU), under its Green Employment and Enterprise (GrEEn) opportunities in Ghana innovation challenge,  awarded 12 start-ups and entrepreneurs within the Western and Ashanti Regions with a matching grant of GH¢1,170,000. Among the receivers of this grant was Mr Jesse Roland Prah of Roland Rice located in the Western Region of Ghana. This funding aspect of the project is aimed at supporting and speeding-up the growth of these Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) in the green and circular economy, so they can offer decent, fair and sustainable jobs to youth, women and returning migrants within these regions.

I am so grateful to Duapa Werkspace for selecting me to be a part of the SNV GrEEn Incubation Cohort 2. The training has taught me so many things. I have changed a lot of my business processes adopting the new strategies I learned and I can see it benefitting my business a lot.

I participated in the MSME - CRRP project which was facilitated by Duapa Werkspace to acquire knowledge on how I could digitally enhance and market my business. Interestingly I never knew how I could maximise the use of WhatsApp as a digital tool. I got to know about Canva and how to effectively use Social Media as a Digital Marketing tool. I was greatly satisfied.

I enrolled on the six-month fashion training program at Duapa Werkspace. I didn't have any idea how to sew but I had a passion for it. My dream was to own a fashion house one day, employing a lot of young ladies and giving them a secure future. Thanks to Duapa Werkspace I have completed the training successfully, I can sew beautiful dresses and even sell them. I am rest assured, that my dream would surely come to pass.
